EduPASS: Multiplier Event in Germany
Modular Educator and Youth Sport Coach Education Program presented
On September 12, 2024, the multiplier event of the EduPASS project took place at the Institute of Sports Science in Münster, Germany, organized by the WGI in cooperation with sport-lernen.de (Dipl.-Sportl. Axel Binnenbruck) and the Department of Physical Education and Teaching Reseach (Prof. Nils Neuber) at the University of Münster. The event was aimed at educators and trainers in children’s and youth sports.
Prof. Nils Neuber opened the event, followed by a presentation by Dr. Heinz Aschebrock on the objectives of the EduPASS project. Around 20 participants (various gymnastics foundations, daycare and sports associations and the German Sports Youth Association) discussed the results and their relevance for professional practice in three lectures. A central result was the development of a competence profile for movement educators and youth trainers, which serves as the basis for a modularized qualification profile and a European core curriculum.
As a first step, a comprehensive competence profile for Early Childhood Education and Youth Sport Coaches was developed within the framework of EduPASS. Both profiles served as the basis for the development of a modular qualification program specifically tailored to the needs of these target groups. Prof. Roland Naul (WGI) presented the scientifically based development process, and the results achieved in detail. A central aspect of the EduPASS project was the development of an innovative Online Teaching Platform that provides access to high-quality continuing education through the development of core modules, building on the competence profile and the modular qualification programme. For each job profile, 6 core modules were developed, which were identified by EduPASS as core content for training and further education. This was presented by Dr. Sebastian Brückner. In addition, an evaluation tool has been developed to ensure the quality of exercise programs for children and adolescents. This tool helps to measure the effectiveness of the programs and to continuously improve them. Katharina Gröne (CEREPS) and Cornelius Reh presented this in detail.
The event offered participants, including representatives from various associations for the training of educators and youth sports, the opportunity to exchange ideas on how to implement the EduPASS results. There was great interest in further dialogue and implementation. The project partners would like to thank all participants for their commitment and valuable feedback on how to optimize the results.
